Tour the Farm
Request to Schedule a Group Tour
Bring your group to Edgewood Community Farm for a guided tour of our working urban farm in the heart of Northeast D.C. Tours are a great way to connect with where food comes from, learn about urban agriculture, and experience a thriving community greenspace. We welcome school groups from pre-K through college, as well as community organizations, scout troops, and other groups with curious people of any age.
Every vegetable, herb, and flower grown at the farm is donated to the local community through our open harvest policy and tour groups are welcome to harvest produce, herbs, and flowers during their visit. Your visit also helps support our partnership with ReDelicious, a free weekly grocery distribution program we host on-site.
1. What to Expect
Tours last up to one hour and are led by a farm guide. You'll walk the farm, learn about what we're growing and why, and get a feel for how an urban farm operates through the seasons. Depending on the time of year, there may be opportunities to interact with plants, tools, and the harvest firsthand.
If your group is focused on a particular topic: food systems, ecology, sustainability, urban planning, or anything else, let us know and we'll do our best to tailor the tour accordingly, as long as it connects to what's happening on the farm.
2. What You'll See
Depending on the season and your group's interests, tours may include:
Community garden plots, in-ground growing rows, and our two greenhouses, pollinator meadows and rain garden, an ecologically managed lawn, composting systems, beehives, aquaponics system, and mushroom growing area
