Our Community Values & Shared Commitments

A place to grow food, friendships, knowledge, and community.

Edgewood Community Farm is a shared space where neighbors, volunteers, visitors, and community partners come together to grow, learn, and connect. Everyone deserves to feel welcome, safe, included, and respected. Whether you are here for a few minutes or help lead a project, we ask you to uphold these commitments.

Welcome everyone

Treat people with kindness, dignity, and consideration. Value different backgrounds, identities, abilities, experiences, and perspectives. Help make the farm accessible and welcoming to all.

Respect people and boundaries

Listen, communicate thoughtfully, and respect personal space and choices. Disagreements are natural; intimidation, threats, humiliation, bullying, or abusive behavior are not.

Keep our community free from harassment

Discrimination, slurs, unwanted sexual attention or advances, and other harassing behavior have no place here. Respect a “no” the first time. Never pressure anyone for personal, romantic, or sexual contact or use farm activities, relationships, or communication channels to pursue it.

Care for our shared space

Respect the land, plants, tools, facilities, and the work of others. Follow posted guidance and safety practices, and leave the farm ready for the next person to enjoy.

Lead by example

Board members, project leads, and other leaders have an added responsibility to model these values, maintain appropriate boundaries, listen to concerns, and use their roles fairly—never to pressure others or offer preferential treatment in exchange for personal attention.

Speak up and look out for one another

If something feels unsafe, disrespectful, or inconsistent with these commitments, tell a project lead, board member, or email non-confidential feedback to feedback@ecfarm.org or use concerns@ecfarm.org for confidential concerns. Concerns should be taken seriously and addressed respectfully. Retaliation against someone who raises a concern in good faith is not acceptable.

We all help shape the farm community.

Thank you for showing up with care, curiosity, and respect.
